Best Latvian kefir, cheese, cream, curd and their products to be determined.

The Latvian Central Union of Dairy Producers (LPCS) is organising a competition between high quality dairy products produced in Latvia in cooperation with the International Exhibition Company BT 1. The winners will be given awards at the International Food Industry Trade Fair “Riga Food 2014” opening ceremony on 4 September in Kipsala.

Premium quality milk product competitions have become very popular for dairy producers and they are also appreciated by other industry professionals and gourmets. The aim of the competition is to promote the usage of dairy products in Latvia and to aggregate the experience of the milk processing plants and manufacturers.

This year, the competition is held in six product groups – kefir with a fat content from 1.5 – 3.0%, ripened semi-hard cheese, unripened sweet milk cheese, curd with a fat content of 9 %, cream with a fat content of 20 % and curd products.

“The dairy products competition within the framework of the exhibition “Riga Food” has been organised for eighteen years already and it proves the importance and stability of the dairy industry in Latvia. Latvian dairy producers are again ready to demonstrate and prove the high quality of their products with justified certainty and show that these products are worth the awards. I am pleased that the interest of both the manufacturers and consumers about our competition is growing with every year. This year we are also going to study and evaluate the new dairy products that have been developed by our companies in the past few years. It is going to be a great possibility to make them even more popular,” says Jānis Šolks, LPCS Chairman of the Board.
